The making of an Ottoman style scroll

I was asked a week before Sacred Stone Baronial Birthday (Labor Day Weekend 2021) if I would take a scroll assignment - a Coral Branch and Award of Arms for Karajin of Turku.

As Kharajin is amazingly talented in so many ways, I was delighted to be asked. Kharajin makes amazing music, and also reconstructs historical textiles. When I was searching for an exemplar, I looked at several Ottoman textiles - Kaftans, rugs, etc. Finally I found the perfect source - a two mast tent in Türckische Cammer in the Dresden Residenzschloss (Royal Palace) in Germany. The interior of the tent is decorated with intricate applique work.
